Joseph W. Smith, Senior Associate with MMFLG, attended the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education (CLE) meeting held in person on April 15, 2025, in Nashville. This marks Smith’s first in-person Commission meeting since his appointment by the Tennessee Supreme Court, effective January 1, 2025.
The Commission is responsible for monitoring attorney compliance with CLE requirements and administering Tennessee’s attorney specialization program pursuant to Supreme Court Rule 21. Meetings are essential to shaping CLE policy, reviewing compliance procedures, and ensuring continued excellence in legal education across the state.
“It was a privilege to participate in this important work alongside such experienced and committed professionals,” Smith said following the meeting. “The in-person format allowed for thoughtful discussion and collaboration on how we can continue to strengthen CLE standards in Tennessee.”
Smith joins a dedicated group of professionals appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court, serving three-year terms with the opportunity for reappointment. The Commission is supported by Supreme Court liaison Justice Mary Wagner of Memphis.
