Miles Mason, Sr. | Memphis Divorce Lawyer
Miles Mason, Sr. JD, CPA, is a husband, father, and divorce lawyer. He is married to Sharon, and together, they have three children.
To celebrate their Thirtieth wedding anniversary, Miles and Sharon toured Yellowstone National Park and met up with friends in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Empty nesters, they love traveling together whenever their busy schedules open up. The couple spent two weeks touring Scotland celebrating Sharon’s fiftieth birthday. Their oldest daughter graduated from SCAD and is an interior designer with a top architectural firm in Atlanta. Their son became a U.S. Marine and now works in Logistics. Their youngest daughter graduated UT Chattanooga and is a writer.
Sharon and Miles often travel to national conferences at which Miles is speaking; these include the meetings of the American Bar Association Family Law Section and the American Institute of CPAs. Their favorite conference locations include Napa Valley; South Beach; Santa Fe; Stowe, Vermont; Bahamas; NYC; Boston; San Diego; Chicago; Dallas; and Las Vegas. For family vacations, they love Disney World, Gulf Shores, Alabama, and historically significant destinations such as Gettysburg, Colonial Williamsburg, Antietam, and Culloden.
Miles has a particular fondness for what he calls “assassin” literature written by authors such as Mark Greaney (of the Grey Man series) and Barry Eisler (John Rain series). He’s also fond of nonfiction, including authors Robert Caro, David McCullough, and Anthony Bourdain. Miles’s tastes in music include ’80s music (Police, Clash, Cure, and REM), Jazz (Miles Davis and Bill Evans), and the Rat Pack. He enjoys Napa Valley Cabernets and the occasional single malt. Miles plays golf, shoots, and bikes.
He and his wife are Memphis born and bred. Miles’s father, the late Jack Mason, was a CPA with his own accounting practice in Memphis for thirty-five years. Sharon’s father is the late Judge Joe B. Jones, Presiding Judge of Tennessee’s Court of Criminal Appeals and Miles’s early mentor in law. Miles, his three brothers, father, father-in-law, and son all graduated from Christian Brothers High School. Several years ago, Miles served as president of the CBHS Alumni Association and has been inducted into the Christian Brothers High School Hall of Fame. Being a “Brothers Boy” means a great deal to him, both because his parents were very active in fundraising for the school and because of his close personal relationship with several of the Christian Brothers who taught him.
Miles Mason, Sr. is the owner and managing member of the Miles Mason Family Law Group, PLC. Prior to forming his firm, he partnered with Alan Crone for 15 years. Miles is the author of four books on family law (available on Amazon.com). He is a nationally recognized speaker who presents continuing education seminars across the country on divorce trial practice involving complex financial issues, forensic accounting, and business valuation for judges, attorneys, CPAs, and business valuation experts. At national conferences, Miles has co-presented seminars with some of the nation’s leading lawyers and business valuation experts including Randy Kessler, Tom Burrage, Shannon Pratt, Chris Mercer, Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Linda Thomas, and Michael Kaplan. The media frequently asks him to comment on divorce for television news and local and national press including CNN, Forbes, and ABC. Miles’s professional biography below lists books authored, articles published, seminars taught, and selected interviews and public speaking.
“I’m very fortunate to get to do what I do. Advising people in difficult times is a great honor. On a personal level, it’s immensely gratifying to have great friendships with many judges, lawyers, and business and community leaders in Memphis. And through my over thirty years of active involvement with the ABA Family Law Section, I’m friends with many accomplished family lawyers across the country.”
